The negative karma, imo, should be removed, if you got nothing nice to say - then say nothing at all. If somebody wants to report, they should submit a ticket through official channels only. Just every person who comes here complains about it ends up admitting they did something they weren't supposed to, they just feel that they were punished unfairly for being obnoxious in some way. Unfair reports can be contested, but so far I've never heard of someone who got banned who didn't break the rules. You also can't pad karma by getting with a couple of players because you can't report or complement people you are in or have been in a division with. Obviously they'd rather not ban people as banned people don't spend money ) Eventually you WILL get banned, but admittedly, it does take a lot. First they'll just take toxic people out of chat for 3 days, then it's longer etc. Yes there is consequences, they're just not terribly harsh, but they do accelerate.
If all you want is karma, just find a couple of other players and pad it as much as you want. If you got reported because you ruined the game for everyone else in your team, feel free to keep doing that since there are no consequences. So if you got reported unfairly, tough luck, nobody is going to help you. There is no protection for players, in fact the game goes to some length to protect abusers by limiting the number of reports that can be submitted against them, even if the reports are going to be ignored anyway. Toxic players who ruin games never get punished and neither do those who abuse the report system and submit fake reports.
